Beeldemaker specialised in representing landscapes with animals – dogs and foxes in particular – both posed portraits and during hunts. In this painting the protagonists are hunting dogs at rest, and it is possible to identify the breed: English Cocker Spaniels in the foreground and a Lurcher in the background. The human presence is limited to a horseman in the background.
