Splendida coloritura coeva nelle tavole di questi primi tre volumi dell'opera di Sepp ricordato come uno dei trattati sulle farfalle più belli e maggiormente illustrati di sempre. Probabilmente iniziata nel 1728 la pubblicazione proseguì per circa 200 anni. "The most important work on Dutch lepidoptera" (Landwehr).
7 parti in 3 volumi, 4to (252 x 194mm). Antiporte illustrate in ciascun volume colorate da mano coeva, vignetta xilografica al frontespizio di ciascun volume e a quello di ciascuna parte, privilegio, 50 tavole in ogni volume per un totale di 150 belle tavole incise e con coloritura coeva (occasionali lievi bruniture ai margini delle pagine di testo). Mezza pelle coeva, in barbe (reindorsata preservando parte del dorso originale). Provenienza: Vittorio Arioli (exlibris). Si tratta di parte dell'opera completa e si vende come collezione di tavole non passibile di storno.

One of the finest and best-illustrated works on butterflies ever published. Work on the publication probably began around 1728 and stopped only two hundred years later, when the author of the third series died in 1928, leaving his work unfinished. "The most important work on Dutch lepidoptera" (Landwehr).
7 parts 3 volumes, 4to (252 x 194mm). Engraved handcoloured frontispiece in each volume, woodcut device on title of each part and general titles to each volume, priviledge, 50 engraved plates with contemporary handcolouring in each volume for a total of 150 (occasional light browning to margins). Contemporary half calf, uncut (rebacked preserving old spine). Provenance: Vittorio Arioli (bookplate). It is just part of the work and it sold as a collection of plates not subject to return.
