Buona copia della prima edizione di quest'opera che illustra i maggiori aspetti del piantare, curare e crescere gli alberi. Le illustrazioni xilografiche sono in parte quelle intagliate da Giorgio Liberale e Wolfgang Meyerpeck per il Mattioli del 1562, acquistato da Duhamel du Monceau per suo uso personale.
2 volumi, 4to (261 x 200mm). Occhielli, numerosissime testatine calcografiche con illustrazioni botaniche, 250 tavole incise in legno e 4 tavole incise in rame e ripiegate (occhiello e frontespizio del vol. I leggermente corti e riparati ai margini, occasionali lievi fioriture e alcune macchie all'inizio, carta A1 del vol. I e carta A4 del vol. II con difetto della carta che crea uno strappo al margine interno, macchia centrale al verso della tavola a p. 256 nel vol.II visibile al recto, ultima pagina un po' rovinata). Bazzana coeva, dorsi decorati in oro, tagli rossi (giunture deboli, alcuni difetti e graffi). First edition of this important and influential work on every aspect of planting, growing and maintaining trees. The beautiful large woodcut illustrations are in part printed from blocks made by Giorgio Liberale and Wolfgang Meyerpeck for Mattioli's herbal two centuries earlier, which Duhamel had acquired for use in this work.
2 volumes, 4to (261 x 200mm). Half-titles, numerous fine engraved headpieces, 250 woodcut plates and 4 engraved folding plates (half-title and first title slightly shorter and repaired, occasional light spotting and some staining at beginning, leaf A1 in vol. I and A4 in vol. II with paperflaw causing small tear at inner margin, central stain at verso of plate on p. 256 showing on recto, final leaf lightly damaged). Contemporary tree calf, gilt spine, red edges (weak joints, some rubbing and scuffing).
