atelier oï, Part of Gaïa Collection by atelier oï x WonderGlass, Marea, named for its ref- erence to the rise and fall of the tide, is designed to mirror the impression of light moving on water. The work consists of stacked suspended discs of clear glass featuring radial micro-grooving on the base which casts a shimmering pattern when lit reflectively — an effect reminis- cent of sparkling stars on water. Yoshimoto Hideki, Rise focuses on the organic shapes of water bubbles and the refraction of light. Yoshimoto challenged the complex way light transmits and reflects inside differ- ent materials, resulting in a mesmerising visual effect. Yoshimoto’s piece seeks to capture a dynamic moment in time and nature: it is reminiscent of air rising through the water, suggesting the possibilities of life below; a presence that we cannot see but that we are inspired to imagine. Mahdavi India, Inspired by Mahdavi’s obsession with flowers and pop culture, Pistil is like a zoomed-in part of a flower. Highly stylised and cartoon-like, this super sophisticated piece showcases Mahdavi’s iconic flair. The table top is made of a single piece of handmade cast glass, while the base is made of brass. The intensive and highly skilled production process gives the table its unique, rippled surface on the under- side. As with real flowers, it is perfectly imperfect. In fact, for India Mahdavi, flow- ers make us realise a fragility of the world and that the beauty of what we have might disappear. Tamura Nao, Lab Edition is a symbol of the connection between nature and man-made objects. Recalling alchemic instruments, light is captured by the liquid inside the spheres and reflected onto mir- rored disks, transforming it into a magical dazzle that embod- ies the entire piece. There is a moment when the sun hits the surface of a lagoon and creates a lens resemblance. This effect captures a “spark” and turns it into a source of light. Nendo, Inspired by the flexibility of molten glass, its viscosity and the force of gravity, the crea- tion of Melt was a unique and complex pro- duction. Oki Sato from nendo was inspired by watching the craftspeople in WonderGlass’ workshops working with melted glass. His intention thereafter was to allow the material to direct the design process: molten glass is first poured into a square frame, where a number of craftsmen simultaneously even out the surface using iron trowels. The glass gradually cools and upon reaching a certain pliancy, it is placed onto a steel shape where it slowly sinks or stretches to create an arch, allowing the natural drape of the material to reveal its form. -- Unique Shipped from Italy Item liable to VAT 2019

Edges Raw, Horah reflects on the theme of light in dialog with one of the essential aspects of contemporary living: sociability. Inspired by Horah, the Israeli dance, London-based design duo Raw-Edges explore an ongoing theme of repetition with a lighting installation that is imbued with an essential quality in the dance: conviviality. Crafted and engineered by WonderGlass, each lamp features a pivoting motor with curving glass leaves attached, expertly composed using glass casting techniques. Light is concealed at the centre, creating a gradient of illumination. Lovegrove Ross, Oneness is based on the idea of bal- ancing single points together. These points do not touch, but they use the natural viscosity of the material to try to reach the form of limit. They con- verge but they do not really connect, which is a metaphor for the way the world is after the pandemic. These converging entities were created by hand by Murano master glassmakers with outmost detail right after the glass has been blown. Studiopluz, Comprising a range of glass blocks painstakingly arranged by hand one-by-one, Minosse recalls the labyrinthine geome- tries of mythic palaces belong- ing to ancient civilizations. The glass brick structure of the throne is a reference to the architectural composition of the palace of Knossos in Crete, which was the main room of the Mycenae’s king. The bright colours on the surface of the throne are an interpretation of the colourful frescoes found in the room during archaeolog- ical excavations. Studiopluz, Inspired by the origins of the uni- verse, Echoes is a unique piece that creates an immersive visual and sound experience. The piece is an illuminated sculpture comprised of a series of glass discs fusing materiality with sound to produce a stimulating soundscape, evocative of the gravitational waves coming from black holes. The multimedia piece can be placed atop a plinth or suspended from a ceiling to create different types of auditory atmos- pheres. Hadid Zaha, Luma is a sculptural composition of glass segments elegantly transforming into diamond shaped luminaries which subtly dif- fuse light with their materiality. Each individual piece of glass has been hand-blown in Murano and celebrates the unrivalled logic and beauty found within nature. The first original prototype was manufactured in 2014, under the leading design of Zaha Hadid and her creative approach and it was launched in Milan Design Week 2014.
