Prima edizione di questo importante trattato del naturalista britannico John Ellis sui coralli e la vita marina alle coste della Gran Bretagna e Irlanda tra cui la descrizione dei polipi avvistati nel 1753 vicino al Polo Nord dai balenieri.

4to (265 x 203mm). Antiporta incisa in rame raffigurante diversi gruppi di coralli (lievemente brunita e macchiata), 42 tavole in rame, alcune ripiegate (una in più), fregi e capilettera xilografici (lievi fioriture sparse e macchie marginali). Mezza pelle moderna e piatti in carta verde, titolo in oro al dorso.

4to (265 x 203mm). Engraved frontispiece depicting different groups of corals (slightly browned and stained), 42 engraved plates, some folding (one more), woodcut headpieces and initials (light scattered spots and marginal staings). Modern half calf over green paper boards, gilt title on spine.
