Terza edizione in formato tascabile di quest'opera in latino dopo le due edizioni in 8vo (Anversa, 1564 e 1566). Inclusa tra le incisioni vi è un'illustrazione del gioco del tennis.
16mo (114 x 80mm). Testo latino con inserti in greco, marca tipografica al frontespizio, ritratto dell'autore al verso del frontespizio e ritratto dell'imperatore Massimiliano II, 221 incisioni xilografiche (mancano i fascicoli T, U e X contenenti incisioni con monete e un inizio di epigramma, lievi gore di umidità soprattutto al margine inferiore, lievi bruniture). Legatura recente in piena pergamena con impressioni a secco ai piatti e talloncino di pelle con titolo al dorso, titolo manoscritto al taglio inferiore. Landwehr Romanic, 711.

Third edition in Latin, the first of a series of pocket size editions which popularised emblem literature in the low countries. The first edition in 8vo of the same work was published just five years earlier in Antwerp. It includes an early woodcut depiction of the game of tennis.
16mo (114 x 80mm). Text in Latin with Greek inserts, printer's device on title, portrait of the author on verso and portrait of Emperor Maximilian II, 221 woodcuts (lacking the coins engravings in gatherings T, U and X, some light waterstaining, mainly at bottom margin, light browning).
