Arte Indiana Tappeto per fumare la Huqqa in velluto viola ricamato con filo metallico
India, XIX secolo . . Cm 120,00. di forma circolare, il centro e il bordo finemente abbelliti con fiori e tralci ricamati a filo metallico con la tecnica denominata "zardosi" in riferimento al ricamo a filo d'oro e d'argento diffuso in Asia Centrale ed India ed impiegato soprattutto nell'esecuzione di tessuti reali. In questo caso infatti, l'iscrizione sul bordo esterno del medaglione centrale recita: "From Udayavira Singha Raghubansi to HG (Her grace) the Duches(sic) of Devonshire". I Raghubansi sono un famoso clan Rajput e Udayvira Singh è probabilmente il principe.
Per un esemplare comparativo, ma senza iscrizioni, si veda quello conservato nella collezione Kedleston Hall presso il National Trust Collections (Inventory Number 107456).

India, 19th century. . Cm 120,00. Round shape, the center and the edge are finely adorned with flowers and shoots embroidered with metallic thread with the technique known as "zardosi", consisting in the embroidery of gold and silver threads peculiar to Central Asia and India and employed mainly for the creation of royal garments.
The inscription on the outer edge of the central medallion reads: "From Udayavira Singha Raghubansi to HG (Her grace) the Duches (sic) of Devonshire". The Raghubansi were a famous Rajput clan and Udayvira Singh was probably their prince.
