ARTE ISLAMICA Stele commemorativa in marmo bianco con epigrafe
Vicino Oriente o Sicilia, XVI secolo. -. Cm 35,00 x 51,00 x 7,00. Presenta due arabeschi negli angoli superiori e cartuccia circolare contenente un epitaffio che ci informa che si tratti della stele funeraria di Muhammad b. Omar al Ansari (?)al- Shalati al-arabi (l'arabo), deceduto il 21 dhu'l -Higga 923 (martedì 4 gennaio 1518 AD).
Il riferimento al soprannome "l'arabo" potrebbe significare che il personaggio avesse vissuto in terra straniera, da cui l'ipotesi di attribuzione alla Sicilia ed il riferimento ad un oggetto simile presente conservato presso la Galleria Regionale della Sicilia, Palermo e pubblicato su Giovanni Curatola (a cura di) Eredità dell'Islam, 1993 pp. 202-203

Near East or Sicily, 16th century . . Cm 35,00 x 51,00 x 7,00. Exhibits two arabesques in the upper corners and a circle framing an epitaph identifying it as the funerary stele of Muhammad b. Omar al Ansari (?)al- Shalati al-arabi (the Arab), died on 21 dhu'l -Higga 923 (January 4, Tuesday, 1518 AD).
The nickname “the Arab” could mean that this person lived in a foreign land, from whence the hypothesis of its Sicilian origin, and the referral to a similar object hosted in the Galleria Regionale della Sicilia, Palermo, and published in Giovanni Curatola (edited by) Eredità dell’Islam, 1993 pp. 202-203.
