Arte Himalayana Thangka raffigurante Tsonkhapa
Cino-Tibet, fine XVIII secolo. -. Cm 68,00 x 125,00. Thangka raffigurante probabilmente la vita del riformatore e fondatore della scuola dei berretti gialli (Gelug-pa) Tson-kha-pa.
Ritratto al centro della composizione é qui rappresentato con un incarnato realizzato a fogli d’oro e con vesti monacali e berretto appuntito. Siede in posizione padmasana e porta in entrambe le mani due tralci arborei che terminano in fior di loto sbocciati, ognuno dei quali ospita un attributo che lo identifica: un libro alla sinistra ed una spada fiammeggiante kadga nella destra. Il personaggio é inserito in un contesto verdeggiante in cui si possono notare monti, foreste, edifici e personaggi secondari che mostrano eventi relativi alla vita del maestro. All’apice di tutta la composizione spicca la figura tantrica Samvara, legata in yab-yum con la sua compagna. Scritte di attivazione sul retro.

Sino-Tibet, late 18th century . . Cm 68,00 x 125,00. Thangka depicting what is likely the life of the founder and reformer of the Gelug-pa Buddhist school, Tsongkhapa.
Depicted at the center of the composition he is represented with the skin made of golden sheets, wearing monk robes and a pointed hat. He sits in the padmasana position and holds in both hands two shoots ending in blossoming lotus flowers, each of them hosting an attribute by which he is identified: a book on the left and a kadga flaming sword on the right. The character is pictured in a verdant landscape, with mountains, forests, buildings and secondary figures showing events relating to the master’s life. At the top of the composition is the tantric figure Samvara, joined in the yab-yum position with his spouse.
