    2nd millenium B.C.

    23 mm

    The animal with a round shell and flat underside. The small, protruding head with two small perforations on top, once with inlays. The four extremities are elongated (missing feet). On top, engraved cross pattern (formerly inlaid). In Mesopotamia the turtle was not only a sought-after food but also attributed with healing power, the reason why it was worn as an amulet. Wear marks. Missing parts and deposits.

    In the shape of a crescent moon, no pierced, probably to be mounted in a gold frame. Possibly referring to the crescent moon of Inanna (Ishtar). Wear marks. Very good overall conservation.

    Of oval shape, pierced lenghtwise. The back is engraved on three registers divided by two horizontal lines; on top, crescent moon and star, beneath, an inscription.

    Of almond shape, the back is highly convex and engraved of a cuneiform inscription (to be identified) meanwhile the reverse is flat. Pierced lenghtwise. The stone is partially burnt. Sign of use, natural cracks on the surface of the stone.

    AN EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN SANDSTONE JEWELRY MOLD

    Early 1st millenium B.C.

    37x49x9 mm;

    One half of a jewellery mould carved from a light coloured sandstone: used for making metal trinkets, and jewelry elements. It consists of a square block with matrices or negatives on both sides for casting trinkets, in lead or in gold. The matrices on one side include a disc element with star pattern inside, a pear-shaped cable pattern and a cross pattern. On opposite angles, presence of a hole that was used to fixed the other side of the matrice during the fusion.

    2nd - 3rd century A.D.

    Diam 18 x 9 mm.

    Disc-shaped piece perforated (Throughhole); looking the size, probably for a swivel ring. Modeled in high relief, the hound rests with his head between his outstretched forepaws. The curving line of his spine and long tail follows the curved edge of the stone. Iron traces and deposits. Wear marks. Rare type.

    A similar stone, but perforated as a phalera, is from Christie’s New York, 13 December 2002, lot 613; published in ARGOS: The Dog in Antiquity, Phoenix Ancient Art 41, 2022, no. 12, pp. 48-51.

The intaglio depicts a female bust facing left with hair ornaments, large earrings and necklace. In the field, star and moon. On the right, a pahlavi inscription. Wear marks, chip on the edge.

    AN EASTERN GOLD ARCHITECTURAL RING.

    circa 9th-12th century A.D.

    H max 40 mm; int. Size 15x17 mm; 8,41 gr.

    With a thin rounded hoop extending on the shoulders with granulated work. The bezel is formed of very high raised structure in the shape of an architecture, with two main sections; the base composed of a serie of tubular saldered elements supporting a "tower-shaped" box setting composed of the same elements ending with conical shaped granulated elements. This ring reminds the typology of "house rings" or engagement rings that appears during the medieval era in Near and Middle-Eastern. Nice overall condition. Patina deposit, wear marks.

    10th-12th century A.D.

    Stone 11x14 mm; int. diam 15,5 mm; 9,31 gr.

    With rounded hoop and high extended shoulders fully decorated of granulation and surmounted by a "table bezel" set with a large lapis lazuli stone. This typology is referrable to the Fatimid Severe style. Very good overall condition. Intact surface with patina deposit. Beautiful variety of the stone.

    The mounting: Late hellenistic, 2nd century B.C. The seal: Late Archaic period, 6th-5th century B.C.

    16x20x8 mm; 3 gr

    Consisting of a gold box setting of oval form with granulated triangular points and spherical beads containing a layered agate seal (pierced lengthwise), the back engraved of a roaring lion facing right. The style and iconography is referrable to the late Archaic period. Each side of the box setting is also pierced and adorned on the edge with 5 hollowed spherical beads of flower pattern.

2. Esposizione

I lotti saranno visibili dal 4 al 6 luglio 2023 dalle 9:00 alle 17:30 BST nella sede in cui avrà luogo l’asta:

3.     Offerte pre asta

 Dalla data di pubblicazione del catalogo online sino alle ore 9:00 BST (10:00 CEST) di venerdì 7 luglio sarà possibile:

a. cominciare ad effettuare offerte sul sito www.bertolamifineart.com o sui portali partner come elencati al punto c del paragrafo 1

b. inviare le offerte scritte di cui al punto d del paragrafo 1

Nel caso di:

a. unica offerta pre asta su un lotto

e in assenza di offerte di rilancio durante l’asta, il lotto sarà aggiudicato alla base d’asta anche ove l’unica offerta pervenuta fosse di importo superiore (l’importo dell’offerta pre asta indica infatti l’offerta massima che l’offerente è disposto ad effettuare) 

Esempio: base d’asta £ 1.000 – Unica offerta pre-asta £ 1.500 – Aggiudicazione a £ 1.000

b. offerte pre asta multiple dello stesso importo su uno stesso lotto 

e in assenza di offerte di rilancio durante l’asta, il lotto sarà aggiudicato all’autore dell’offerta con data anteriore 

c. offerte pre asta multiple di importi diversi su un medesimo lotto

e in assenza di offerte di rilancio durante l’asta, il lotto sarà aggiudicato all’autore dell’offerta più alta a un prezzo di aggiudicazione calcolato aggiungendo all’importo dell’offerta immediatamente inferiore un incremento prestabilito nella tabella pubblicata in calce (Tabella A)

Esempio: offerta cliente A £ 1.270, offerta cliente B £ 1800. Vince il cliente B non al prezzo di aggiudicazione di £ 1.800 ma di £ 1.370. Viene cioè applicato all’importo dell’offerta immediatamente inferiore l’incremento automatico di £ 100 previsto dalla tabella quando le offerte sono comprese nello scaglione £ 1.000-1.999. 

 

4.     Modalità di pagamento

Gli acquirenti dei lotti vincenti potranno scegliere tra le seguenti modalità di pagamento:

- assegno bancario o circolare non trasferibile intestato a Bertolami Fine Arts LTD (nel caso di pagamenti effettuati tramite assegni esteri aggiungere £ 10 all’importo della fattura);

- carta di credito;

- Paypal;

- Bonifico bancario a favore di Bertolami Fine Arts LTD.

5. Diritti d’asta

L’acquirente corrisponderà a Bertolami Fine Arts una commissione d’asta pari al 27% del prezzo di aggiudicazione di ciascun lotto. 

Sui lotti acquistati tramite partecipazione on line sul sito www.bertolamifineart.com o sui portali partner si applicherà un’ulteriore commissione così quantificata:

6.     Costi ulteriori

I costi di spedizione e eventuali costi doganali sono a carico del compratore. 

Nel caso in cui, per contestazioni ingiustificate, i beni dovessero essere restituiti a Bertolami Fine Arts, le spese doganali e di spedizione sono a carico del cliente. 

 

7.     Condizioni di vendita

Le condizioni di vendita che regolano il rapporto tra Bertolami Fine Art e la gentile clientela che prenderà parte alle aste sono pubblicate in ogni catalogo. Poiché esse si intendono automaticamente accettate dal momento della partecipazione all’asta, si prega di leggerle con attenzione.

In caso di discordanza tra la versione delle condizioni di vendita pubblicata su catalogo cartaceo e quella pubblicata su catalogo online, prevale la versione online. 

 

8.     Pubblicazione dei risultati d’asta 

L’elenco delle aggiudicazioni sarà pubblicato da Bertolami Fine Arts sul proprio sito, www.bertolamifineart.com, a soli fini informativi, entro dieci giorni dalla chiusura dell’asta.
