Ottimo stato di conservazione di quest'opera fra le più celebri di Grandville, illustratore, designer e caricaturista francese del XIX secolo. I testi sono a opera di Honoré de Balzac, Benjamin Franklin, Jules Janin, Alfred de Musset, Charles Nodier, George Sand, P.-J. Stahl e altri e le illustrazioni si distinguono per la peculiare capacità di riprodurre tratti umani in volti animali.
8vo(262 x 170mm). Occhiello, antiporta e 95 tavole al primo volume; occhiello, antiporta e 104 tavole nel secondo, numerose vignette incise nel testo (lievi e sporadiche fioriture). Legatura con dorso in marocchino e piatti in pelle blu, titolo e decori in oro al dorso, agli angoli e alla giuntura dei piatti, sguardie e tagli marmorizzati, buone condizioni.

Excellent state of conservation of this work, one of the most famous by Grandville, a 19th-century French illustrator, designer and caricaturist. The texts are by Honoré de Balzac, Benjamin Franklin, Jules Janin, Alfred de Musset, Charles Nodier, George Sand, P.-J. Stahl et al., and the illustrations are distinguished by their peculiar ability to reproduce human traits in animal faces.
8vo (262 x 170mm). Half-title, frontispiece and 95 plates in first volume; half-title, frontispiece and 104 plates in the second, numerous vignettes (occasional light spotting). Blue leather backed in morocco, gilt titles and decorations on spine and corners, marbled endpapers and edges, in good conditions.
