"La stella di neve 1934. Corsa d'auto e gara di sci"
Coppa-trofeo. Esecuzione Sorini, Italia, 1934. Marmo nero, metallo argentato, sagomato e martellato, cristallo molato e acidato su un lato. Il trofeo riproduce in miniatura schematica, nello stile tipico di Piero Portaluppi, la strada carrabile della val Formazza, l'Albergo e la Cascata del Toce. (cm 23x32,6x26,5) (lievi difetti)
L'albergo fu restaurato e ampliato dall'architetto milanese tra 1925 e il 1929. L'intervento rientrava in un piano di sviluppo industriale e turistico di cui Piero Portaluppi fu protagonista con l'impresa Girola e l'industriale Ettore Conti. In seguito il piano aveva previsto presso il Passo San Giacomo, la costruzione del ristorante Wagristoratore (1929-30, oggi distrutto), raggiungibile in auto e realizzato mediante l'utilizzo di due vagoni ferroviari.

Trophy cup. Execution by Sorini, Italy, 1934. Black marble, silvered metal, shaped and hammered, ground and etched crystal on one side. The trophy reproduces in schematic miniature, in the typical style of Piero Portaluppi, the driveway of the Val Formazza, the Hotel and the Toce waterfall. (23x32.6x26.5 cm.) (slight defects)
The hotel was restored and enlarged by the Milanese architect between 1925 and 1929. The intervention was part of an industrial and tourist development plan of which Piero Portaluppi was the protagonist with the Girola company and the industrialist Ettore Conti. Later the plan had foreseen at the San Giacomo Pass, the construction of the Wagristoratore restaurant (1929-30, now destroyed), reachable by car and built using two railway carriages.
