Etruscan Black-Figure Hydria, Attribuited to the Micali Painter, ca. 530 - 500 BC; height cm 48, diam. cm 21,5; The vase is decorated with mythological scenes and innovative and original secondary decorative elements. The main decoration consists of a sequence of four characters, among them is possible to recognized the God Hermes, through his typical footwear. Another standing figure holds a rod and a club (Hercules?). On the shoulder is a sequence of three fantastic heraldic animals. On the neck a centauromachy. The secondary decoration frames the main one with two vertical bands of triangular elements with dotts inside them, one per side and a sequence of stylized meander, a band small ivy-leaves with tendrils and dots and radiand rays from the foot. Restored with reconstructions but highly decorative. Provenance: English private collection, according to the heirs possibly purchased in some auction or Art Gallery during 1970s-1980s.
