Arte Himalayana Thangka raffigurante il Buddha della Medicina
Tibet, XVII - XVIII secolo . -. Cm 71,00 x 91,00. Pittura devozionale su tela realizzata nello stile Gser thang a fondo oro raffigurante, in posizione centrale, il Buddha della Medicina Bhaishajyaguru, seduto in padmasana su una base a petali di peonia e boccioli dello stesso fiore e caratterizzato dalla pelle color blu ed abiti monacali rossi. La figura tiene nella mano sinistra, in avakasamudra, una ciotola contenente una mistura di erbe officinali; la destra, con il palmo rivolto verso l'esterno, stringe un tralcio arboreo. Sullo sfondo si possono notare un gran numero di piccole repliche della figura principale. Da notare il raffinato lavoro pittorico della figura principale.

Arte Himalayana Thangka depicting the Medicine Buddha
Tibet, 17th - 18th century . . Cm 71,00 x 91,00. Devotional painting on canvas in the Gser thang style on a golden background. It portrays, centrally, the Medicine Buddha Bhaishajyaguru, characterized by the blue skin and the red monastic robes, sitting in the padmasana position on a base made of peony petals and buds. The character performs the avakasamudra gesture with his left hand, in which he holds a bowl containing a mixture of officinal herbs. The right hand, with the palm facing outwards, holds a shoot. In the background are a number of small copies of the main figure. Of particular interest is the fine brushwork on the main character.
