Arte Himalayana Turana Induista in legno scolpito
Nepal, XVIII secolo . -. Cm 61,50 x 76,50. Turana, appartenente probabilmente ad un piccolo tempio, ritraente centralmente, nell'arcata superiore, il dio alato Garuda, affiancato da due nagini e due chimere (makara) tra decori a forma di nuvola. Sulle due colonne laterali sono ritratti Ganesh, sul lato sinistro, e Vishnu sul desto. Sotto queste due figure sono incise due iscrizioni, mentre al centro della base è rappresentata Kali, probabilmente circondata dai committenti dell'opera che poggiano su piedistalli con ulteriori iscrizioni.
Arte Himalayana A wooden carved turana
Nepal, 18th century . . Cm 61,50 x 76,50. Turana, in all likelihood originally from a small temple, portraying in the center of the upper arch the winged god Garuda, with two naginis and two chimeras (makara) on either side, among cloud shaped ornamentation. On the two columns are portrayed Ganesh, on the left side, and Vishnu, on the right one. Beneath these two figures two inscriptions are engraved, while at the center of the base Kali is pictured, surrounded by those who probably commissioned the work, resting on pedestals with further inscriptions.
