India meridionale, Tamil Nadu, XVI secolo. -. Cm 19,50. Fusione in bronzo raffigurante Shiva nella sua versione di divinità distruttrice che danza all'interno del cerchio di fuoco, schiacciando con il suo piede destro il nano dell'ignoranza (Apasmara). Il personaggio è raffigurato con quattro braccia: la destra in abhayamudra e la sinistra che indica il piede sollevato durante la danza a significare liberazione, mentre le due secondarie reggono due attributi: il tamburello ed il fuoco.

Southern India, Tamil Nadu, 16th century . . Cm 19,50. Bronze cast portraying Shiva in his manifestation as a deity of destruction, dancing in the circle of fire, crushing with his right foot the dwarf representing ignorance (Apasmara). The figure is pictured with four arms: the right one in the abhayamudra position and the left one pointing to the foot lifted in the act of dancing, representing liberation, while the secondary hands bear two attributes: the drum and the fire.
