Arte Himalayana Thangka raffigurante Vaisravana
Cina/Tibet, XIX secolo. . Cm 63,50 x 87,00. Grande thangka in stile Nak-thang (a fondo nero) raffigurante uno dei quattro lokapala, nonchè protettore dei punti cardinali Vaisravana (Rnam-thos-sras in tibetano).protettore del nord e custode dei tesori. La grande figura porta con sè due attributi che la contraddistinguono: nella mano sinistra la mangusta (Nakula) che sputa pietre preziose dalla bocca e nella destra lo stendardo (Dhvaja in tibetano) che simboleggia la vittoria della dottrina buddista.
Di notevole interesse il ricco broccato in seta, di foggia cinese, inserito all'interno della cornice.

Arte Himalayana A thangka depicting Vaisravana
China/Tibet, 19th century. . Cm 63,50 x 87,00. A big Thangka in Nak-thang style (with black background) which portrays Vaisravana, one of the four lokapalas, protector of cardinal points and guardian of treasures (Rnam-thos-sras in Tibetan). The figure holds two of his typical objects: in his left hand he holds the jewels-spitting mongoose (Nakula), while in his right hand he holds the banner (Dhvaja), which represents the victory of the Buddhist doctrine. Noteworthy is the lavish silk brocade, made in China, inserted under the frame. Total measures: 171x105 cm.
