Heihachiro Togo (Kagoshima, January 27, 1848 - Tokyo, May 30, 1934) was a Japanese admiral. He became famous for his victory over the Russian fleet at the Battle of Tsushima. The son of a samurai, he chose a career in the navy, which was organized along English lines. He fought his first naval battles in conflicts between the feudal Japanese rulers.
